Trans Media Network is committed to protecting the privacy of people whose personal information is held by our company through responsible information management practices. Any personally identifiable information (PII) provided to Trans Media Network is collected, used and disclosed in accordance with HIPAA (USA) and British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).
What is Personally Identifiable
Information?
Personally identifiable information (PII) is
recorded information about an identifiable
individual. PII includes such things as an
individual's name, address, birth date,
e-mail address and phone number. When we
collect your PII we must identify:
- The purpose for collecting the PII,
- The legal authority for collecting it, and
- The contact information of our Privacy Officer who can answer your questions about the collection of that information.
Data Practices
Information Automatically Collected
If you visit our website(s) to browse, read
pages, or download information, we will
gather and store certain information about
the visit. The following information is
automatically collected and stored:
- The Internet Protocol Address and domain name used. The Internet Protocol address is a numerical identifier assigned either to your Internet service provider or directly to your computer. This address can be translated to determine the domain name of your service provider (e.g. comcast.com or rogers.com);
- The type of browser and operating system;
- The date and time of the visit; and
- The web pages or services accessed.
Information collected automatically is used for purposes such as assessing system performance, improving web services and website management. Trans Media Network does not use this data to determine your identity unless required to do so as part of an internal investigation or other law enforcement purpose.
Information Collected Directly From
You
PII is collected, used, disclosed and
retained by our website is done so under the
authority of British Columbia's Personal
Information Protection Act (PIPA). PII will
only be used by authorized staff to fulfill
the purpose for which it was originally
collected or for a use consistent with that
purpose unless you expressly consent
otherwise. We do not disclose your
information to other public bodies or
individuals except as authorized by PIPA.
Trans Media Network does not collect PII about you unless you voluntarily provide it to use specific online services. Your decision not to participate in electronic service delivery activities will not impair your ability to browse the website, read or download any information provided on the site.
If you believe that your PII is being used for a purpose other than what was intended please direct your enquiries to the Privacy Officer.
What safeguards are in place?
Trans Media Network is obligated to protect
your PII by making reasonable security
arrangements against such risks as
unauthorized access, collection, use,
disclosure or disposal. Security measures
have been integrated into the design,
implementation and day-to-day operating
practices as part of our continuing
commitment to the protection of PII we hold.
No transmission of information is guaranteed to be completely secure. Unauthorized entry or use, hardware or software failure, and other factors may compromise data security. You acknowledge and agree to assume this risk when communicating with us or any of our Clients.
How long is information retained?
The length of retention will vary in
relation to the nature of the service. If
Trans Media Network uses your PII to make a
decision that directly affects you, it must
retain that information for at least one
year so that you have a reasonable
opportunity to obtain access to it.
Information collected or created by Trans
Media Network is maintained in accordance
with PIPA requirements.
How can I access and correct
information I submit to a website?
You can review any PII collected about you
by submitting a written information request
to the Privacy
Officer.
Links to other websites
Visitors should be aware our website may
include links to websites operated by other
private businesses, government agencies, and
non-profit organizations. When you click a
link to visit another site, this Privacy
Policy will not apply, however, you may be
subject to the Privacy Policy of that new
site, if one exists. Trans Media Network is
not responsible for the privacy practices or
content of external websites.

complaint is not resolved to your
satisfaction the PIPA provides a mechanism

Privacy Statement for Ad Serving
The following disclosure covers the information gathering and dissemination practices for banner advertisements served on Trans Media Network websites through our ad server.
Personally Identifiable Information
(PII)
Trans Media Network does not collect
personally-identifiable information for
banner ads served on our website by our ad
server. Information such as name, address,
email address, telephone, SSN and other
private data are considered
personally-identifiable information.
Information Collection and Use
Non-personally identifiable information is
automatically recorded in our system when
you view, click or interact with a banner ad
served on our website: anonymized/truncated
IP address (geographical information),
truncated referring page URL, truncated
visited page URL, viewed/clicked ad ID, zone
ID (ad placement), user-agent string
(browser and operating system information),
language, screen resolution, time zone, date
and time. Numeric counters are also
increased upon certain activities such as
the number of ad views and ad clicks. This
information is used to target banner ads and
generate reports on banner ad campaigns.
Other than ad views and clicks which are
shared with our advertisers, Trans Media
Network does not share these non-personal
records with any entity.
Data Retention
To protect your privacy, not all
non-personal records are processed and
retained by our ad server. By default,
non-personal records are randomly selected
for retention while the rest is deleted.
Non-personal records older than 90 days are
permanently deleted from ad server database
and cannot be recovered. On the other hand,
numeric counters (eg: daily, monthly, total
impressions, etc.) are retained for as long
as our ad server account is active.
Browser Cookie
A browser cookie is a data file stored
within your browser. Our ad server uses
cookies to record banner ad performance
metrics such as banner ad views and clicks.
These cookies do not contain any personally
identifiable information.
Behavioral Targeting
Trans Media Network and our ad server
provider do not share visitor's data between
different publishers or with other ad
servers. We do not trace or track your
surfing habits across different websites or
devices.
External and Third-Party Links
The ads we serve contain links to other
websites. We are not responsible for the
privacy practices or the content of such
websites. We encourage you to read the
privacy statements of such websites to
understand how they collect and use your
data.
Opt-Out
To disable existing and future cookies
created by Trans Media Network websites on
your computer, you can opt-out or turn on
the Do-Not-Track feature in your browser.
Options for manually opting out are
available on Trans Media Network’s
individual websites. (See list of these
sites at the end of the next section.)
